We asked the question, who is the best in the world: Roger DeCoster
or Heikki Mikkola? The two superstars of the sport were battling for
the 500cc MX GP crown in 1974. We also reported that Mikkola clinched
the championship after DeCoster DNF'd a moto in Luxembourg...
We had coverage of the 250cc and Open AMA MX National at Delta
Motorsport Park in Ohio. Can-Am's Jimmy Ellis won both 250cc motos,
and Kawasaki's Jimmy Weinert went 2-2 to win the Open class... We
tested the 1974 Kawasaki KX125 motocrosser.

We interviewed flat tracker Randy Goss, who was pictured on the

emerged winners at the Lakewood, Colorado, round of the Bel-Ray
125, 250 and 500cc MX Nationals. Honda's David Bailey clinched
the 500cc title... Fred Merkel topped the AMA Superbike National
at Portland International Raceway... Ricky Graham aced the Peoria
TT... Randy Mamola won the British GP.
