took a tumble with several other
riders and got up in 34th place.
In Adam's final moto, he
needed only a top five to clinch
the title, but did he stop there?
Of course not; he wanted to say
goodbye to Loretta's with a moto
win. Adams plans to race his first
pro race at the Ironman National
in Indiana in September.
"I just told myself at the start
of the week if I get to the first
turn then I can do it," said Ad
-
ams after winning his last moto.
"Halfway through, I was stuck
behind Avery [Long], and I was
thinking about settling for it
there, but why would I do that?
I've won four, I might as well win
five. So, we worked on that and
got it done. I definitely didn't start
off the week well, but I said after
that first moto I wasn't going to
let that happen again, and we fol
-
lowed through and won the rest.
That's pretty cool."
Amateur Rider of the Year went
to Caden Dudney. The Monster
Dudney also was awarded the
Oakley Award.
Dudney's Team Green team
-
mate Landen Gordon, another
top contender after winning the
opening 250 B moto, went on to
finish second in the champion-
ship ahead of Yamaha's Ryder
Malinoski.
After breaking both femurs
last year, Diesel Thomas
(Husqvarna) went 3-1-1 to take
the 450 B Limited championship
and 1-1-1 to claim the 450 B title.
"I actually still have the rods
and both screws in my leg, so
there's a lot of work it takes to
climb all the way back to the top,"
said Thomas. "There's a lot of
problems that come with break
-
ing your femurs, but I'm up to a
challenge. And yeah, I conquered
them, and here I am. In that last
moto, my start was alright, but I
knew I had to dig deep. I worked
my way up to fourth around lap
two, and then I saw Flynn [Watts]
fall and those two kids in front
Energy Team Green Kawasaki
rider dominated the B classes by
sweeping the Schoolboy 2 (12-
17) B/C class, before going on to
finish 3-1-1 to top the 250 B class.
In his first 250 B race, Dudney
went down in the first turn to start
the race in 22nd, then passed 19
riders to finish third in a masterful
ride to salvage points.
