ROUND 10 / AUGUST 2-4, 2024 SILVERSTONE / TOWCESTER, UNITED KINGDOM ROAD RACE I FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP P74 Moto2 Race Jake Dixon (CFMoto Inde Aspar Team) thrilled the Silverstone crowd by becoming only the fourth British rider to win on home turf since 1977. He secured victory with a dramatic last-lap pass on Aron Canet (Fantic Racing), the two sepa- rated by just 0.177 of a second at the finish line. Celestino Vietti (Red Bull KTM Ajo) claimed third place, marking his first podium of the year. Polesitter Ai Ogura (MT Hel- mets - MSI) got off to a perfect start, with Vietti taking second ahead of Canet. Dixon aggres- sively climbed from fifth to third early on, while Canet quickly Bagnaia but couldn't catch him. Di Giannantonio climbed from 10th on the grid to finish fifth, followed by Espargaro in sixth, just ahead of Alex Mar - quez. Marco Bezzecchi finished eighth, with Acosta in ninth. Morbidelli overcame his double Long Lap penalties from Satur- day's incident to claim the final top-10 spot. In the championship, Martin is back on top on 241 from Bag - naia's 238 and Bastianini now looking like a title threat on 192. Bastianini extended his lead to secure victory, finishing ahead of Martin and teammate Bag- naia. "It was a difficult race, as I made a few mistakes in the first two laps and lost some ground," Bastianini said. "Then, I was able to find the right confidence to get back to the leading group: I bridged the gap first to Aleix [Espargaro], who was not an easy one to pass, and then to Pecco [Bagnaia]. In the last four to five laps, Jorge [Martin] was pushing really hard, and it wasn't easy to catch him. It's a fantas - tic feeling to be back on top of the podium in a Sunday race." Marc Marquez finished fourth after a late push to challenge Marc Marquez (93) chucked it away again in the Sprint race but held on for fourth in the Sunday GP.
