In race two, it was much the
same, as Scholtz once again
made the running out front,
with Jacobsen his ever-present
shadow. It came down to a final-
lap shootout as Scholtz tried all
he knew to defend his position,
but he didn't expect Jacobsen
(Rahal Ducati Moto with Xpel)
and Mathew Scholtz (Strack
Racing Yamaha), who reversed
the order played out at the previ
-
ous round of The Ridge, with
Jacobsen taking two wins
and
closing to within 18 points of
Scholtz in the championship.
Jacobsen and Scholtz are
proving to be the class of the field
in 2024 and staged their own
races out front with Scholtz doing
much of the donkey work in race
one, leading from the start until
three laps to go when Jacobsen
put a decisive pass on the South
African at the blind uphill turn six,
putting the hammer down and
forcing Scholtz into running wide
at turn one on the final lap.

Herrin's win and subsequent
championship lead is the first
in his Ducati superbike career,
and it also marks the first time
a Ducati has led the series since
Australian Troy Corser in 1994
on the Fast By Ferracci Ducati,

194 points from Gagne's 179
and Fong drops to third on 171.
