ROUND 8 / JUNE 28-30, 2024 TT CIRCUIT ASSEN / THE NETHERLANDS MOTOGP I FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP P96 lowing lap. He went from lead- ing by 1.5 seconds to a half a second in arrears. He was soon back with the MSI duo, with Garcia briefly taking the lead from Ogura at the GT chicane on lap 18 before immediately los - ing it on the following lap. Then Garcia started enduring trans- mission issues in the final laps, allowing Ogura to escape for his second win of the year, and Al- deguer went by for second place in another case of what could have been. Jake Dixon (Aspar Kalex) took a strong fourth, ahead of Som - kiat Chantra (HTA Kalex) and Tony Arbolino (Marc VDS Kalex), couldn't keep his bike within them, which brought about a long-lap penalty. Ai Ogura (MSI Boscoscuro) was on hand to take full advantage. The pair, along with Sergio Garcia (MSI Boscoscuro), took advantage of the absence of Joe Roberts (American Racing Team/Kalex) after the American broke his right collarbone in a huge highside on Friday. The trio swiftly broke clear of the field, with Aldeguer in the lead to the tune of 1.6 seconds after Garcia made a mistake on lap 12. But Aldeguer was handed a long-lap penalty on lap 14, and it demoted him to third on the fol - 11th, with Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha) 12th, 24 seconds back of Bagnaia, but incredibly still six seconds faster than last year's race-win- ning time. Martin's (200 points) lead has been trimmed to 10 points after Bagnaia's second double on the bounce. Marc Marquez's (149) is now 51 points back, while Bastianini (136) is also losing touch. Moto2 For the second race in three, track limits would determine this result. For polesitter Fermin Aldeguer (SpeedUp Boscoscuro) Ai Ogura celebrates the Moto2 victory.
