"I was leading almost the whole moto. I got stuck in the lappers with three or four laps to go, and Jo and Haiden caught me quick. I wanted to pass Jo again and obviously fight for the win, but I crashed on the last lap. I gave it everything, and the last three laps we were all pushing really hard." Shimoda closed out the day with a big win in the sec - ond moto. An ankle injury has hampered the Honda HRC rider, affecting his off-bike training routine. Qualifying 24th didn't do him any favors going into the motos, as evidenced by his leader, and Vialle threw it away on the final lap. He remounted in third, where he would finish out the moto. Vialle is third in the championship but is 43 points down from Deegan. "I had a good first moto, but I struggled to pass Chance [Hy - mas]," Vialle said. "I was behind him for like 15 minutes. Then, when I got to second, Haiden was already up like seven seconds, and it was a big gap. I finished second, which was okay for the first moto. unbeatable, so I had to put in a good race." Tom Vialle, last year's win - ner, was second overall. The KTM rider ran up front in moto one, but lost the tow during the mid-section of the race and decided to conserve his energy for the second race of the day. He stalked Deegan early in race two and was there to capitalize once the number 38 hit the deck. For a while, it seemed like Vialle would easily win the race as his lead opened up to more than five seconds. However, slowly but surely, the lead dwindled, and Vi - alle found himself with his hands full and time running out. Jo Shimoda and Deegan caught the Tom Vialle, who won Southwick last year, had to settle for second this time.
