Vets Kick Off
Mammoth
Racing
M
otorcycles invaded Mam-
moth Mountain once again
for the kickoff weekend of the
2024 Mammoth Motocross in
Mammoth Lakes, California. This
June 22-23 weekend marked
the "Vet Weekend," the first time
bikes hit the dirt during the 10-
day event.
SLR Honda's Cole Martinez ab-
solutely dominated the weekend
in the 30-plus Pro division. The
former motocross and Super-
cross pro swept all four motos
on both days of racing, winning
by more than 20 seconds in each
moto. Martinez added two more
bear trophies to his collection in
the process. Drew Gosselaar and
Sean Lipanovich rounded out the
podium on day one, going 2-2
and 3-3, respectively.
Day two saw Matas Inda take
second overall with a pair of
thirds, while Lipanovich landed
third again with 4-2 finishes.
Matt Barber took the overall
win on both days in the 40A
division, with Pat Foster, Chris
Gosselaar and Tyson Taylor all
taking a stab at podium results.
Kurt Nicoll put on a clinic in
50A, winning all four motos over
the weekend. Bill Sauro and Rob-
ert Naughton rounded out their
podiums.
Bubba Warren also landed on
the box, winning both days of
30B racing and three moto wins
in total.
The annual Mammoth Moto-
cross continues all this week with
minis and big bikes still yet to
take their turns on the course.
