The two title contenders went
back and forth several times, and
then Sexton appeared to start
taking control when he plowed
through a small berm a little too
aggressively and went down.
Sexton quickly moved up into
second, but Jett led the remain
-
ing five laps to take back-to-back
moto
wins.
Sexton had another small
get-off and finished three sec
-
onds behind Jett, with Hunter
first
four laps after quickly pass-
ing holeshotter Muc-Off/FXR/
Club
MX's Phil Nicoletti, who
drifted back quickly. Soon, right
behind Anderson were Hunter,
Jett and Sexton. Jett wasted
little time getting around his
older brother, as did Sexton.
Jett soon caught Anderson.
While Jett was battling Anderson
for the lead and slowing each
other up, Sexton said thank you
and quietly slipped past both
riders in one swoop. Jett then fin
-
ished the pass on Anderson for
second, and the
showdown for
the moto win was on between
Sexton and Jett, which was ex
-
actly what the High Point crowd
came to
see. And it was indeed a
great battle—while it lasted.
