Bou, Busto Share TrialGP Wins In Italy
R
epsol Honda's Toni Bou and
GasGas Factory rider Jaime
Busto shared the spotlight at the
TrialGP of Italy, which was held
in Valsassina on June 15-16.
Early rain Saturday caused
the level of difficulty to increase
significantly, but Bou, aboard
the Montesa Cota 4RT, was
nevertheless in the lead after the
first lap of the 12 zones, with 22
points. On lap two, as the rain
gave a respite, the Spaniard had
a near-perfect run, earning his
fifth consecutive victory of the
season. He finished well clear
of second-place finisher Matteo
Grattarola on the factory Beta.
Bou's teammate Gabriel Marcelli
was third, followed by Sherco's
Adam Raga and Busto.
Sunday saw a new winner
emerge. Busto thrived in the
slippery conditions, while Bou
struggled in the second lap,
which saw him take four consec
-
utive fives. Busto edged out Bou
for the day's win by four points.
Grattarola was third, followed by
Raga and Marcelli.
"It's an incredible feeling being
back on the top of the podium,"
Busto said after Sunday's win. "I
made a lot of silly mistakes, but I
still had a good feeling about the
bike. So, on day two, I focused and
made sure I made as few mistakes
as possible and took the win."
Bou remained positive despite
experiencing a rare loss. "Today
was not our day," Bou said on
Sunday. "In fact, yesterday we
were not at 100 percent either,
but we had a very good race.
Today, it wasn't to be, but the
best thing is to be second when
things are not going well."
Bou still has a comfortable
Championship lead after three
rounds, 117-90 over Busto. Raga
is third with 81 points.
