Lakewood
"Bar-Bangingest"
In 1983, we said the race for the
500cc Motocross National win
at Lakewood, Colorado, was the
"bar-bangingest, lead-switchingest
battles in recent memory," involving
Danny "Magoo" Chandler (22), Broc
Glover (6), eventual winner Goat
Breker and Kent Howerton. That
year, the makeshift Lakewood track
was secured only weeks before the
race when the previously scheduled
venue was unexpectedly sold.
