at San Donato, then aimed for
Martin. Bagnaia had extended
his lead once more and Bas-
tianini became the focus, pass-
ing Marquez at Scarperia on the
penultimate lap.
Bagnaia secured his third con-
secutive Italian GP win, complet-
ing a Mugello double, while Bas-
tianini's late surge saw him close
the gap to Martin and execute
a perfect coup de grace at the
second, regardless of the pres-
sure exerted on him.
Martin remained close but
couldn't mount a challenge, while
Pedro Acosta advanced steadily
forward. Marquez's move on Bas-
tianini allowed Acosta to catch
up, but Acosta couldn't find a way
past the eight-time World Cham-
pion Marquez and lost ground.
As the race neared its end,
Marquez overtook Bastianini
blow for Martin, and although he
missed the holeshot into turn one
at San Donato, he lit the afterburn-
ers up the hill and rode around the
outside of Bastianini and Martin
into the turn-two corner of Luco
to wrench the lead away from the
Prima Pramac Ducati man.
From there, Bagnaia got into a
remarkable groove, with laps two
to the last of 23 never differing
by more than nine-tenths of a
VOLUME ISSUE JUNE , P77
know if it's a gearbox issue or, more
likely, just something related to the
shifter probably because, later on,
it didn't happen again. During the
race, I faced more or less the same
problems as I had during the entire
weekend; not a lot of turning in the
fast corners and spending so much
time on the lean angle really limited
the lap times a lot for me."

"We missed out on the podium, but
we did a positive race," Marquez said.
"I couldn't overtake Bastianini, and
when he passed me with two laps
ago, it seemed as though he was on
fresh tires. Both Pecco [Bagnaia] and
him were strong. We're leaving with a
few more points in the standings, and
we're very positive ahead of the next
two back-to-back races. We'll keep
working during the test day in order to
further improve our feeling."
