This time around, the race was
painted all red, as Josh Herrin
grabbed the holeshot into turn
one, put the hammer down and
was never headed. Herrin set an
almost robotic pace out front,
pulling away at more than a sec
-
ond per lap to eventually cross
the line
nine seconds clear after
backing off on the final lap. It
was Herrin's 11th Superbike win
of his career, which ties him for
18th on the all-time Superbike
win list with the late Anthony
Gobert.

cles' Bobby Fong, Beach, Kelly and
Baz were all
going at it for second.
Kelly held the advantage for much
of the race, but Fong was con

sistently after him, pushing hard
through
the corners to make up
for a drastic lack of straight-line
speed from the Yamaha.
On the last lap, during the run
to the final corner and the dash
up the hill, Kelly's BMW encoun
-
tered issues, getting stuck in
fifth gear.
He managed to finish
the race but dropped to sixth
place instead of the second
place he had been fighting for.
Fong secured a well-deserved
