"A tricky weekend comes to an end,
but we knew this would be the case
for us at this track," Joan Mir said.
"We're trying a few things here this
weekend that will help us a lot in the
future, but this weekend was compli-
cated. I am confident that we will be
stronger in the next races and be able
to return to what we were doing in the
first race."
MYOWNRACE
Following the conclusion of
the Barcelona-Catalunya round
in 2022, Bagnaia was 56 points
adrift of Quartararo. That gap
ballooned to 89 points, but he
went on a late-season charge,
taking the title in the final round
as Quartararo's Yamaha seem-
ingly capitulated around him.
This time around in 2024, Bag-
naia is 39 points behind Martin,
and Martin is on the exact same
bike, so it's unlikely Bagnaia will
have the helping hand of his
rival's machine suddenly becom-
ing uncompetitive in 2024.
"It's clearly a missed opportu-
nity, as the 12 points were well
within reach, so I'm a little bit
angry about it," Bagnaia said af-
ter the Sprint disaster. "I'll need
to be more careful tomorrow,
especially at turn five."
