NELSON C ameron Beaubier (Tytlers Cycle Racing BMW) was at his devastating best for almost all of the second round of the MotoAmerica Steel Com - mander Superbike Championship at Barber Motorsports Park in the lush green Alabama forests. Having qualified on pole by three-tenths of a second ahead of Warhorse HSBK Racing Duca - ti's Loris Baz and a near half-sec- ond clear of chief title rival and current number one Jake Gagne (Attack Performance/Progres - sive/Yamaha Racing), Beaubier was operating on another plane. He took the holeshot in race one and immediately slammed the hammer down, putting in a remarkable 1:24.9 opening lap to position himself almost a second clear of the other Attack Perfor - mance/Progressive/Yamaha Racing of Cameron Petersen. Sideways over the paint at turn 13, Beaubier was well on his way to being clear and home when he lost the rear exiting turn 14A on lap three. The black and blue BMW spun around under - neath him, luckily not finding the rear-tire grip that would have launched him into the mother of all highsides. still rode "Peace!"
