Tickle Takes Glen Helen Stopwatch National

emember those old-school
mid-week money races? Well,
Glen Helen Raceway looked to
bring back that vibe as it hosted
its first "Stopwatch National" amid
its world-famous Thursday prac
-
tice. The former national venue
posted $10,000 up for grabs with
two 30-minute plus one-lap motos
on the schedule for the day. A
stacked 35-rider gate lined up
on their "weekend off" for some
exciting weekday racing as they
prepare for the upcoming start of
the 2024 Pro Motocross Champi
-
onship at Fox Raceway.
Derek Drake of the BarX Su-
zuki Team took off with the early
lead in race one. The 450-mount-
ed Drake used the larger Suzuki
power to outgun the "open class"
moto on the steep hills and
fast straights. He held the early
advantage over both Troy Lee
Designs Red Bull GasGas 250
riders Pierce Brown and Ryder
DiFrancesco. The front three
raced in close succession during
the opening laps, but Drake later
fell victim to Brown before even

tually dropping out of the running

scores to win the
overall at Glen Helen's
Stopwatch National.
Ryder DiFrancesco (34)
and Julien Beaumer
(929) battled it out for
the podium in moto two.
