while American hopeful Jim Pomeroy struggled with suspension
issues on his Bultaco... Heikki Mikkola and Roger DeCoster
continued their rivalry in the 500cc French Grand Prix.

Our cover story 40 years ago was the Honda RS750D dirt tracker
ridden by Bubba Shobert. We took an in-depth look at the
factory race bike... Rick Johnson cruised to victory at the Orlando
Supercross... Honda's Fred Merkel destroyed the field at the AMA
Superbike round at Sears Point. An AMA Hare Scrambles took place
in the Lucerne Valley desert in Southern California, where desert
ace Dan Ashcraft took the win... We covered the Burger King/CMC
Supercross in Rhode Island. Donnie Cantaloupi and Jimmy Ellis
went 1-2.
