MOTOGP
SPRINT RACE
Martin was in no mood to hang about
after throwing away his home GP race win
at Jerez two weeks ago. Fastest in all bar
three sessions all weekend and fastest
in the ones that mattered, Martin started
from pole and shot off into the lead while
chief title rival Francesco Bagnaia hit the
reverse gear from second on the grid, the
number one ending the first lap in 15th.
It wouldn't get any better for Bagnaia,
who ran off at the Chemina aux Boeufs
esses and would retire from the Sprint
with a cryptic message for the media of
"something dangerous" with his GP24.
Martin settled into the
lead from Marco Bezzec
-
chi (Pertamina Enduro
VR46 Racing Team) and
Marquez, Maverick Vina
-
les (Aprilia Racing Team)
and his teammate Aleix
Espargaro.
With four laps to go, it all went
wrong for Bezzecchi, losing the front
of the fluro yellow Ducati at the Che
-
mina aux Boeufs esses and sliding to
a halt in the gravel trap.

21 FRANCO MORBIDELLI
12TH/8TH MOTOGP
"It has been a great weekend,"
Morbidelli said. "I have been able to
directly join the Q2, I had great speed
in the race, both in the Sprint and the
full race, and that is a good point.
I'm still missing something, and I am
working to improve. The start is still
a weak point; I am aware, so I will be
particularly focused on improving that
aspect."
23 ENEA BASTIANINI
4TH/4TH MOTOGP
"Obviously I cannot be fully happy
with today as I could have done a lot
more, so I'm a little disappointed,"
Bastianini said. "We had the speed
this weekend, but something didn't
go our way and surely that long-lap
penalty did penalize us a lot. It all
happened because I was in a rush
to pass Aleix as I saw the others at
the front were starting to push a bit
harder. I didn't make any calculation,
I simply saw the chance and tried to
take it. Problem is, as it happened
on other occasions, I struggle to get
the bike stopped when upright, so I
ended up wide. I was ready to give
the position back, but then I saw him
