With Fong and Gillim los-
ing touch, the final lap was
a four-way O'Hara-Wyman-
Herfoss-Rispoli shootout for
glory. Herfoss, last year's
Australian Superbike Cham-
pion, opportunistically fol-
lowed Wyman past O'Hara at
turn 12, with the S&S Indian
rider relinquishing the lead for
the first time. Not content with
second, Herfoss then forced
it under Wyman with a tough,
decisive block pass into turn
15, which decided the contest.
"Every time I've been on
track this weekend, I've been
doing longer runs so we know
what's going to happen in the
last laps," said Herfoss after
his race-one victory. "Mid-race,

the front row and trailed a
high-speed quintet of polesit

ter Tyler O'Hara (S&S In-
dian), Wyman, Gillim, James
Rispoli (Harley-Davidson
Factory Racing) and Fong.
He would bide his time at the
back of the group.
As O'Hara looked comfort

able out front with Wyman
just behind, there was con-
stant movement in the pack
following, with Rispoli and
Gillim enjoying a few tight
exchanges. With three laps
to go, Herfoss started mak
-
ing moves, taking advantage
of Fong's unsuccessful at-
tempt on Gillim that pushed
both men wide. He followed
that with the fastest lap the
fifth time around, all while
overtaking Rispoli for third at
turn 12.
