Lorenzo: Race Rivalries Need to be Natural F ive-time World Champion Jorge Lorenzo says rivalries within MotoGP are an asset for the sport and the fans, but they must be naturally generated. Lorenzo's career was defined by his rivalry with Valentino Rossi, the feud so bitter that Rossi insisted on having a wall down the middle of the garage to stop the transfer of any informa - tion between the two teammates during their time at Yamaha. Lorenzo believes that MotoGP currently lacks such passionate rivalries between riders, but he also notes that his rivalries and those of the current generation of MotoGP stars are very different. "I am a great defender of these rivalries," Lorenzo said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo. "These duels keep the spec - tator wanting more, wanting to see the races and the entire weekend. It happened with Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna in For- mula One, it happened with Alex Criville and Mick Doohan in this Championship, and it is experi- enced with Barcelona and Real Madrid in football. "It has happened to me with Valentino Rossi, with Marc Mar- quez, with Dani Pedrosa… "People don't want to see the riders hate each other, but they do want to see a very strong rivalry. But it has to come out naturally. The riders must follow their per - sonality and their way of being. So, if it doesn't work for today's riders, it doesn't work for them." Lorenzo was part of a gen- eration that shared several very healthy rivalries between its star riders. Along with Lorenzo and Rossi's years-long feud, Rossi also had beef with Sete Gibernau, Max Biaggi, Casey Stoner and, later in his career, Marc Marquez, and Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizio - so's relationship was famously tenuous during their time as teammates at Ducati. CN WIND IN THE P42 Jorge Lorenzo's famous spats with Valentino Rossi helped define a generation of racing, but the Spaniard feels that character is now missing from the sport. More Colors, More Goodies R yvid says its Anthem motor- cycle is now available in six colorways, two of which are new. Ryvid also expanded its acces- sory catalog and has partnered with FreedomRoad Financial to offer competitive rates and extended term financing options. CN Ryvid's Anthem line of electric motorcycles returns with more colors to choose from and an expanded catalog of accessories.
