MOTOE In rounds one and two of the 2024 MotoE World Cup held on the same weekend at Portimao, the two MotoE races distilled into intense last-lap battles, the first race going to Nicolas Spi- nelli on the Tech3 E-Racing entry over Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE's Hector Garzo by one-tenth of a second, with current champion Mattia Casadei taking third, 0.25 off polesitter Manuel Gonzalez (QJMotor Gresini Moto2) by six- tenths of a second. Meanwhile, Fermin Aldeguer (Beta Tools SpeedUp) was forced to complete two long-lap penalties dropping him down the order, but showcased just why Ducati has signed him up to a long-term MotoGP contract, by battling back to fourth ahead of MT Helmets – MSI teammates Ai Ogura and Sergio Garcia. Celestino Vietti (Red Bull KTM Ajo) was seventh ahead of Albert Arenas (QJMotor Gresini Moto2), Roberts' team - mate Marcos Ramirez was ninth and Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) rounded out a top 10 that was only separated from the winner Canet by 8.7 seconds. In the title, Canet takes charge on 31 points from Roberts' 29 and Garcia's 27. MOTO3 Daniel Holgado of Red Bull GasGas Tech3 secured victory in a thrilling sprint to the finish at Portimao, narrowly edging out Jose Antonio Rueda of Red Bull KTM Ajo by a 0.044 of a second in a fiercely contested battle on the final lap. Ivan Ortola (MT Helmets – MSI) clinched third place, eight- tenths of a second off Holgado, as the leading trio intensified their pace in the closing laps to break away from former race leader David Alonso (CFMoto Gaviota Aspar Team). Alonso held on for fourth ahead of BOE Motorsport's Joel Mattia Casadei (40) took a second and first to top the MotoE weekend in Portugal.
