We featured a "Desert Profile" on Mark Adent, who was pictured on the cover of Cycle News, along with a friend, 50 years ago. Adent was a fast-rising desert racer in AMA/D37 desert scene. The "Astro Cross" was held in the Houston Astrodome. It was part of the Yamaha International Motocross Series, using a multi-moto format, and was held over two days. Bultaco-mounted Jim Pomeroy (250cc class) and Yamaha pilot Tim Hart (500cc class) were the overall winners... Six-time World Speedway Champion Ivan Mauger topped the International Speedway Challenge at Costa Mesa. YEARS AGO MARCH , P122 LOOKING BACK I Our 1984 Honda CB700SC Nighthawk S was featured on the cover 40 years ago... The third round of the Grand National MX Championship was held at Alabama International Motor Speedway, which utilized a Supercross-style format. Je Ward won the 12-lap final, which also paid points in the Triple Crown of Supercross Championship... Ronnie Jones won the Great American Shootout Indoor Short Track in Philadelphia... We covered the Alligator Enduro in Florida. Mike Melton was the overall winner... Alan Cathcart tested the Harley- Davidson FLHT Electra Glide Classic. YEARS AGO MARCH , The Honda duo of Steve Hengeveld and Johnny Campbell won the San Felipe 250 20 years ago. (Below) Mike Kiedrowski won the Daytona Supercross for the second time in 1994.
