AFT SINGLES
In some respects, the Parts Unlimited AFT Singles
action mirrored the premier class, even if there
wasn't anyone threatening to win aboard a Rotax
framer or anything of the like.
However, on Thursday, reigning class king Kody
Kopp did have to chase down and overtake (alleged)
part-timer Dalton Gauthier to earn his third consecu
-
tive Daytona Short Track victory à la Daniels.
It was an
impressive first act with a new team
for Kopp, who took his number-one plate to the
Rick Ware Racing stable just a week or so prior to
the start of the season.
Third place looked to go to Estenson Racing's
Tom Drane, who figures to be Kopp's single biggest
championship threat before Drane crashed follow
-
ing contact in the race's final corner. That podium
instead
went to Turner Honda's Trent Lowe, who
finished just ahead of former teammate Chase
Saathoff on the JPG Motorsports Honda.
