Record-Breaking Speed
Eddie Lawson won the 1986 Daytona
200 in what we reported was in
"record-breaking speed" on his Yamaha
FZ750-based race bike. Lawson
averaged 106.030 mph, shattering the
previous record of 102.989 mph set by
Freddie Spencer the year before.
