nother preseason gate drop for the MXGP rid-
ers took place at the 25th edition of the Inter-
national of Hawkstone Park in England, March 2-3.
Many of the MX1 and MX2 heavyweights came to
shake off the cobwebs and dial in their settings
prior to round one of the 2024 MXGP campaign.
Glenn Coldenhoff and Andrea Adamo claimed their
respective overall victories.
Coldenhoff took the overall win for the second
year in a row by being the most consistent rider
of the weekend. Riding his new Fantic XX 450, the
Dutchman excelled in the sandy conditions and
finished with a pair of seconds. Romain Febvre
claimed the opening race win but a DNF in the early
parts of race two dropped him to eighth overall.
Jeffrey Herlings returned to the line for his first
race since the MXGP of Teutschenthal back in
WIND
IN THE
P62
June of 2023. He crossed
the line in fourth in race one
but battled Coldenhoff for
the duration of race two.
Eventually, Herlings took
the win by less than two
seconds, earning second
overall in the process.
Pauls Jonass led early in
race one and rounded out
the podium with 3-3 scores.
Reigning MX2 World
Champion Andrea Adamo
dominated the MX2 divi
-
sion. He moved to the lead
by lap three in race one and
ran away with the victory.
The KTM rider then swept
the second race of the day
by more than 10 seconds.
Cas Valk and Hakon Oster
-
hagen swapped positions
during the day and rounded
out the podium in second
and third, respectively.
