T
he 57th running of the Inter-
national of Sommieres saw
many European heavyweights
take to the gate for this classic
MXGP preseason race. French
fans saw Jeremy Seewer take his
first-ever win with his new Kawa
-
saki, as he crossed the line first
in both MXGP motos. Yamaha's
Thibault Benistant earned the
overall in MX2 with 2-1 scores.
Seewer logged a perfect day
as he set the fastest qualifying
time before landing on top in the
Superpole lap as well. The motos
went smoothly for the new Kawa
-
saki rider as he swept both races
ahead of Kawasaki teammate
Romain Febvre and Standing
Construct's Pauls Jonass. Febvre
and Jonass logged consistent
days, going 2-3 in both races.
Red Bull KTM's Liam Everts
struck first in the MX2 division,
as he won the opening moto
over Monster Energy Yamaha's
Benistant and Triumph's Mikkel
Haarup. Everts again started up
front in race two, but an early
mistake dropped him back while
Benistant and Haarup battled for
the lead. Benistant maintained
the top spot to the checkered
flag and used 2-1 scores to take
the overall. Everts' 1-3 gave him
second place with Haarup's 3-2
in third.
