Levi Kitchen took second
after being one of the race's
early leaders. A few mistakes
through the final whoop section
allowed Smith to take the lead,
but Kitchen later re-passed the
Yamaha rider after his slide-out.
The two came together again
after Kitchen opted to roll a
rhythm lane under a yellow flag
while Smith jumped and crashed
into the back of the number 47.

the Husqvarna rider has claimed
more than one win, and he's the
only repeat winner in this year's
250SX West division. Hampshire
is now just five points out of the
championship lead as the series
heads into a six-week break.
Despite getting the win,
Hampshire said it wasn't a great
day for him in Arizona. "It was a
tough day. Man, I had that case
[coming up short on the track's
large double jump in the] first
timed practice. Man, that hurt
me quite a bit. I'm getting up
there in age, so those don't go
by so fast. In the main event,
got a decent start, made those
passes quick. And then I just
kind of rode my own race. You
Levi Kitchen took
second and is now
in sole control of
the red plate.
