Nonetheless, Anderson still
sits fifth in the championship
standings and is only 11 back
from points leader Jett Law-
rence.

Lawrence grabbed the
final spot on the podium in third
place. The Honda rider clawed
his way back from a first-lap
run-in with Cooper Webb, which
saw the rookie go momentarily
off track. Lawrence put in some
strong laps and caught the
number-three bike of Eli Tomac
late in the race for what proved
to be the first time we've seen
these two go head-to-head. A
held him back from making a
run to the front.
"For a second there, I felt like I
was closing in on Kenny," Ander

son said. "That rhythm section I
was trying to do, I felt like I was
gaining a little bit of time, and
I just missed it. One time, I just
blitzed the whole rhythm sec-
tion. I was just trying to do that,
but
the line wasn't consistent,
and Kenny was hitting his marks
and being consistent as usual. I
just lost the tow a little bit and,
at one point, understood where
my place was and just rode it in
for second."
Kawasaki's Jason Anderson
rode a quiet yet consistent ride
for second place. This is the
second podium this year for the
Kawasaki rider, who also took
second at the season opener.
Anderson started third and in

once early
front-runner Aaron
Plessinger hit the dirt. From
there, it was smooth sailing for
the New Mexico native, who's
also familiar with the hard-
