ROUND 6 / FEBRUARY 10, 2024 STATE FARM STADIUM / GLENDALE, ARIZONA SUPERCROSS I MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES / AMA SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP P48 Glendale dirt became increas- ingly slick as the race wore on, which seemed to cater to Roc- zen's precise riding style. It was, however, still a profit- able night for third-place fin- isher Lawrence. He was able to take the points lead by six over defending champ Chase Sexton, who came into the race less than 100 percent after suffering a hand injury during the week. Still, the championship is ex - tremely tight, with just 17 points separating the top seven riders. In the 250SX West class, RJ Hampshire became the cham- pionship's first double-winner after five rounds. 450SX Roczen finally nabbed his first win since round eight last year at Indy. The Progressive Insur- ance Ecstar Suzuki Team rider has shown race-winning speed several times already this year but just hasn't been able to put it all together. Until now. In Arizo - na, he won his heat race before going wire-to-wire in an impres- sive romp. Conditions couldn't have been any more different when comparing Arizona to his win in Indiana last year. The dry 7 AARON PLESSINGER 10TH 450SX Aaron Plessinger won his heat race and started up front in the main event. He crashed out of second place before finishing 10th. "I'm just really annoyed about dropping it in the main event! I was riding well all day, hole- shotted the heat race, and then went wire-to-wire for the win. I entered the main feeling good, got a good start there, too, and was right behind Kenny [Roczen], putting the pressure on, and then had a bonehead move where I tucked the front. The field was still bunched up at that time, so I went back to P22 and came back to 10th. This one stings, but we're still in the championship." 27 MALCOLM STEWART 8TH 450SX Malcolm Stewart logged his best result of the year with an eighth-place finish. "Qualifying was decent with P6, then we finished with P2 in the heat race, which felt really good to be up there," he said. "The main event, not a great start, so I just had to pick my way through the field and got all the way back up to P8. My riding was great, although you need to get the start in this class." MYOWNRACE Roczen was stoked to get his first win of the season and first since round eight last year. Jason Anderson rode a smart race en route to second place.
