ROUND 5 / FEBRUARY 3, 2024 FORD FIELD / DETROIT, MICHIGAN SUPERCROSS I MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS / SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP P62 Many of the West contenders picked Anstie as one to watch for his preseason speed. After battling with Chance Hymas in the early parts of the main, Anstie made his way through for second and held that spot to the finish. His pace was evident as he finished only 2.5 seconds back from Forkner. "The track was sticky and soft, and guys were going down everywhere," Anstie said. "You just had to recognize when to push it and when not to. It took me longer than I would've liked to get around Chance [Hymas], but he was riding great. He was pushing at a good pace, and I didn't want to do anything silly. just putting down my laps in the beginning. The track was fresh, and it was a lot easier to put in laps. You could go wherever you wanted to so I just took advan - tage of that and tried to throw down some laps. It was not so much a 'go-go-go' mentality; I just wanted to keep it under con - trol, and I started to gap them a little bit. I saw Max [Anstie] in second and knew I had to put in a couple of heaters and then just manage it." Max Anstie finished second. The British veteran continued to improve his Supercross skills and carried some momentum from his World Supercross Championship into Detroit. troit was pretty good, especially for my first Supercross ever!" Farres said. "Luckily, I got the track pretty dialed on press day, which was helpful. I felt good in my qualifiers today and then was super nervous heading into the heat race, but I got a decent start and finished seventh. Then, in the main, there was a massive pileup that I was lucky to avoid. I was running sixth until the last lap before a small tipover, so I am a little mad about the fall, but happy with my first Supercross." "The night could've gone a little better," Romano said, "but I'm just happy to get a Supercross race under my belt after missing all of last year." Briefly... Max Anstie rode a strong race in second place in the 250cc main.
