Honda Returns to MX2 H onda HRC will return to MX2-class racing in MXGP in 2024. Honda officially an- nounced its three-rider GP squad, which includes returning MXGP riders Tim Gajser and Ruben Fernandez and new MX2 rider Ferruccio Zanchi. Honda said it was a big step for Team HRC to be re-joining the MX2 class but also a crucial one for the brand to be racing competitively on the smaller 250cc machines, and Zanchi was seen as the perfect pros - pect to lead this new venture for 2024. "We are very excited to have signed Ferruccio for this upcom- ing season in the MX2 class," said Tetsuhiro Kuwata, HRC Director - General Manager Race Operations Management Division. "It was a decision we thought a lot about because it is an important one for Honda and HRC to come back to racing our CRF250R, and we knew that we had to do it the right way. We believe that Ferruccio is the right rider for this project and that he can grow with the bike and de - velop it so that we can get back to winning races and being suc- cessful in the MX2 class as we have done in the MXGP class." The 17-year-old, Zanchi, made his Honda HRC racing debut at the pre-season Internazionali d'Italia in Riola Sardo, Sardinia, on February 4, and the Italian scored the overall win with 4-1 motos. Red Bull/GasGas rider Simon Langenfelder was second overall with a 1-4. Gajser won the MX1 class. CN WIND IN THE P28 After a brief leave of absence, Honda HRC will, once again, have a presence in MX2 with new signee Ferruccio Zanchi.
