Gold Cup National Championship Short Track inside the massive
Houston Astrodome and was featured on the cover 50 years ago.

The weekend also hosted the U.S. round of the Speedway World
Championships won by New Zealand's Ivan Mauger... We interviewed

LOOKING BACK I
Photos from the Paris-to-Dakar Rally were featured on the cover
40 years ago. BMW's Gaston Rahier claimed the win of the 7000-mile
desert race in Africa that lasted 20 days... The GNC/Camel Series
kicked o' at the Houston Astrodome with a two-day doubleheader
won by defending champ Randy Goss and Ricky Graham. This issue
also had Goss featured in an interview... Je• Ward, Johnny O'Mara
and Phil Larson were the big winners at the CMC Golden State Series
at Sand Hill Ranch.
