Thrasher says he's still trying
to dial in his Yamaha's suspen-
sion. "[The new bike is] the
same motor
package but a
whole different chassis," Thrash-
er said. "So, all the suspension
characteristics
are completely
different. So, we're still learning,
but I think I got a good package
this weekend. I felt like it was
a big step in the right direction
for me, and we're still learning,
still working, still trying to get a
little bit better, but last week [in
testing], I think we found a little
bit, and it showed this weekend.
also, so to look at the big pic-
ture, I'm pretty happy."

Thrasher finished third
on the night with 3-10-1 results.
The San Diego winner improved
as the night wore on and capped
the evening with a big win in the
final main event. Poor starts
and a crash in the second race
held Thrasher back from the top
two. His victory in the final main
proved his San Diego win was
no fluke, as he crossed two and
a half seconds clear of second
place. Thrasher's season started
slow, with a 21st and an 18th,
but he's coming on strong as the
West Coast riders get a week off
what until it shot me off in the
whoops there. Once that rear
tire breaks the bead and comes
off the rim, that's when it gets
really scary."
Despite the flat rear tire,
Hampshire continued to race
the rutted track and salvaged a
seventh-place finish. His early
consistency paid off, and 2-1-7
scores kept him in the hunt,
ultimately earning him a second
place on the overall podium.
"My main goals coming in
were to knock off a win early,
which we did, and then head
east with a good shot at the
championship, and we did that
