Benavides would take three stage wins, tying for the most victories with Honda's Jose Ignacio "Nacho" Corne - jo, but navigational issues spread out across the rally piled up, and he could not close down the eventual 38-min - ute gap to winner Brabec. It was an 2024 marked the first time since 1993 that a European manufacturer has not stood on the Dakar podium. Skyler Howes' Dakar never really got going on the factory Honda, his machine giving up for good on the 48 Hour Chrono stage.
