Jo Shimoda, Max Vohland and heat race winner Ryder DiFrancesco all faced their fair share of struggles in the main event. Shimoda, who was hoping to rebound after a disappointing Anaheim 1, had a mechanical and took a disappointing DNF. "The main event didn't go how I imagined," Shimoda said. "I got a good start but tipped over on the straightaway. Two turns later, I had a mechanical and couldn't finish the race. It's not where we wanted to be after tonight." 450 DNQ Rain abbreviated the day's sched- ule, which saw only one combined practice and qualifying session. This made a fast time crucial, but normal 450 staples like Justin Hill and Jerry Robin failed to get into the "Fast 40." Later on Justin Cooper also missed a qualify- ing spot after falling in the LCQ. "I really struggled with the tough conditions all day and night," said Cooper. "With crashes in both qualifying races, it made it even tougher on me, and I wasn't able to find a flow. It's the first main I've missed in my career, so it's a tough pill to swallow." POSITIVES FOR PRADO Jorge Prado is using these first three rounds to test the waters here in America and things are going well as he held off Chase Sexton to win the heat race in San Francisco. His current MXGP contract expires after the 2024 season, which means we might see more of Prado in Supercross Briefly...
