Nichols Injured T he Liqui Moly Factory Beta Supercross Team made its debut at the Anaheim Super- cross but without one of its key riders, Colt Nichols, who suffered a shoulder injury in the days leading up to the race. The former Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha and Honda HRC factory rider, Nichols, dam- aged the rotator cuff, but just how seriously is still a question. Nichols is hopeful he didn't suf- fer a major tear and can return to the Supercross Series soon. "I'm very disheartened to be missing the season opener at Anaheim 1 this weekend and the debut on my new Beta 450 RX," he said. "I'm doing everything I can to heal up so I can get back on the gate; hopefully, see you guys soon." Texan John Short, a two-time top-10 450SX finisher, filled in for Nichols at the last moment but was unable to qualify for the evening program at the Anaheim opener. The team's other rider, Benny Bloss, went to the LCQ but with- drew a few laps in with, most likely, a clutch-related mechani- cal, according to the team. CN Beta's Colt Nichols suffered a shoulder injury while training and was forced to sit out the Anaheim 1 Supercross Series opener.
