Our Triumph 500 TR5T Trophy Trail dual purpose test bike was
pictured on the cover of Cycle News 50 years ago. It weighed 355
pounds and sold for $1479. We said that anybody who likes Triumphs
will love the Trophy Trail... We covered the Arizona National Mini-
Cycle Championships. Jimmy Wright won the 100cc Expert class on
a Honda, and Shawn Kelly, also on a Honda, won the 80cc Expert
division... Marland Whaley won the El Trial de Espana that was held
in Trabuco Canyon, California.

LOOKING BACK I
We featured our Wheelie Wars story on the cover of our 32-page
issue of Cycle News 40 years ago, where Doug Domokos and Tilson
Shumate battled it out as to who could do the longest wheelie.
Shumate won the first round... We had coverage of the Japan Super
Motocross. Rick Johnson took the win, Warren Reid took second,
and Broc Glover grabbed third... Team Hammer wrapped up the
WERA Endurance title.
