It was three riders going for
the win and Veijer passed Sa-
saki for the lead as the final lap
began.
Sasaki
looked for a way
through at the final corner but
he couldn't find one and Veijer
raced to a historic victory, the
first Dutch winner since Hans
Spaan at Brno in 1990.
Sasaki took 20 points for
second, but Masia also took a
valuable podium and 16 points.
The Spaniard is, therefore, 13
points clear of Sasaki in the title
fight, with Alonso and Holgado
both out of it, 41 points adrift.
Ivan Ortola (Angeluss MTA
Team KTM) came home fourth
ahead of David Munoz (BOE
Motorsports), with Adrian Fer
-
nandez (Leopard Racing), Xavier
down
championship challenger
Dani Holgado (Red Bull KTM
Tech3), Ricardo Rossi (SIC58
Squadra Corse Honda), and
Diego Moriera (MT Helmets MSI
KTM), with Taiyo Furusato also
crashing at the same corner in a
separate incident.
The group became Masia,
Sasaki, Veijer, Deniz Oncu (Red
Bull KTM Tech3), Jose Antonio
Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and
Matteo Bertelle (Rivacold Snip
-
ers Team). Then more drama as
Rueda
got it wrong at the final
corner when going for a move
on Bertelle, making contact with
the Italian then unable to save
it and going down and taking
down his teammate Oncu just
ahead, putting paid to the Turk's
title hopes.
Collin Veijer (95)
charged through for
a first Grand Prix
win in Moto3.
