LOOKING BACK I
Ron Lechien and Eddie Lawson shared the front page of Cycle
News 40 years ago. Lechien won the final round of the CMC Trans-
Cal Series, a full-on Supercross race at San Diego's Jack Murphy
Stadium. It was Lechien's last race on a factory Yamaha before moving
to Honda. Lawson won the Superbikes V race at Carlsbad Raceway
aboard a Yamaha YZ490. Danny Chandler and Broc Glover made
up the rest of the podium... Mike Melton won the Delaware State
Enduro... The Dan duo of Smith and Ashcraft won the Baja 1000.
