BY RENNIE SCAYSBROOK PHOTOGRAPHY BY GOLD & GOOSE W ith six rounds to run in the 2023 MotoGP World Championship, the title is starting from zero after Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Ducati) took both the Sprint race and Sunday Grand Prix at Motegi. Rain or sunshine, nothing could stop the Spaniard as he completed Francesco Bagnaia's nullification of his once 63-point lead in the championship, a capitulation even greater than the one he overcame last year in a longer period against Fabio Quartararo. In Moto2, it was complete dominance from the Honda Team Asia and its rider Som- kiat Chantra, who led every session, took a new lap record, and walked away to what looked an easy win from team- mate Ai Ogura and champion- ship leader, Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo). Finally, in Moto3, Jaume Masia continued his red-hot form to take his second win in a row. He now leads the title chase. ROUND 14 / SEPTEMBER 29-OCTOBER 1, 2023 MOTEGI MOBILITY RESORT / TOCHIGI, JAPAN MOTOGP I FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP P68 Catch me if you can! This is all anyone's seen of Jorge Martin recently as the Spaniard closes in on Pecco Bagnaia in the championship hunt. THE TITLE RACE IS OFFICIALLY ON AFTER JORGE MARTIN TOOK THE DOUBLE AND CUT PECCO BAGNAIA'S LEAD TO JUST THREE POINTS IN JAPAN WATER FIGHT
