Hintz Wins Gold In The Silver State
I
n an action-packed month of
racing, racers converged out-
side of Alamo, Nevada, Septem-
ber 22-24, for the Silver State
300, a racer favorite among
the Best In The Desert regu-
lars. Starting and finishing just
outside of Alamo, the 286-mile
point-to-point loop traverses the
Eastern Nevada desert with fast
fire roads, flowing sand washes
and mountain roads through
the trees making up much of
the revered racecourse. Due to
conflicting schedules among the
off-road calendar, entries were
smaller than normal, but all who
participated noted how fun the
race turned out.
At the front of the field,
defending series champions
Hayden Hintz and Trevor Hunter
set the pace on their Dirt Bike
Test/1-800-Dent-Doc-backed
Honda CRF450X. The lead duo
opened trail all day with no is
-
sues, making small gains on the
rest of the field as they rode a
safe pace to the finish.
"Our goal today was to get the
bike to the finish with no issues
and we did just that," said Hintz.
"We made some gains with our
bike setup since Vegas To Reno,
and it was good to see that
progress on the course. Our bike
is going 6-7 mph faster, topping
out at 109 mph today, and TCS
Powersports made some more
improvements with our suspen
-
sion and handling over the last
month."
Behind the leaders, a young
Open Expert team found them-
selves moving up the ranks and
racing to an impressive second
overall. Jack Miller and Austin
Farley, both 19 years young,
ripped through the pack on
their Taco Moto/City Paving/
AHM TX300 to the class win
and ahead of the rest of the Pro
teams. Rounding out the overall
podium was the 40+ Pro trio of
