The 250SMX class was equally
as exciting, and when all was
said and done, Jo Shimoda was
the one who came out on top.
The Japanese rider, who's fresh
off an overall win at the final
round of Pro Motocross, was
the most consistent of the day
and took the win. A mediocre
start in race one saw Shimoda
spending most of his time bat

tling through the field before
finishing an eventual fourth, not
a likely finish to nab an overall
victory.
However, a much better
second-place start paid big
dividends for the Kawasaki rider.
He ran second for most of the
GasGas) seventh.
"We really got thrown a bit of
a curve ball," Barcia said. "Every

one has to deal with the same
conditions on the track, but
unfortunately, we weren't able to
find a happy medium between
Supercross and motocross
with our settings, so we kind of
fought it all day."
Cooper Webb (Monster
Energy Star Racing Yamaha),
Garrett Marchbanks, (Muc-Off/
FXR/ClubMX) and Colt Nichols
(RWR/Madd Parts Kawasaki)
rounded out the top 10.
Heading into round two of the
playoffs, Sexton leads with 50
points, followed by Lawrence
and Plessinger with 38.

"The first SMX didn't go the
best," Lawrence said. "I just
didn't have my starts down and
need to go back to working on
that. It was a tricky start, and I
didn't execute all day. The start
was so key since this track was
so one-lined. The first race, I
didn't have the best setup, but
we made some changes before
the second race, and I was able
to ride a lot better."
Jason Anderson (Monster
