ROUND 8, SEPTEMBER 8-10, 2023 CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS / TRAVIS COUNTY, TEXAS ROAD RACE I FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACE CHAMPIONSHIP P94 Gillim was second in race two, and Ohnsorg grabbed his first podium of the year after fighting back through the field and gain - ing third after Travis Wyman (H-D Screamin' Eagle) crashed out on the final lap. After all the chaos, Gillim leads the title by two points from Rispoli and 11 from Kyle Wyman, those three the only riders with a chance of the title as the series heads to New Jersey. SUPERBIKE Race 1 1. Jake Gagne (Yam) 2. Richie Escalante (Suz) 3. JD Beach (Yam) 4. PJ Jacobsen (BMW) 5. Mathew Scholtz (Yam) Race 2 1. Josh Herrin (Duc) 2. Jake Gagne (Yam) 3. PJ Jacobsen (BMW) 4. Indian Motorcycle/Progres - sive/Mission Foods' Tyler O'Hara and Jeremy McWilliams failed to start the race. O'Hara's bike, which he crashed earlier in the day when the chain broke, didn't run right on the sighting lap while McWilliams was bruised and beaten from his high-side crash in the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship race. Drama ensued in race two as Wyman crashed into Fong's teammate Kyle Ohnsorg on the first lap, remounting to finish in ninth. Fong looked to have the ascendency until his Indian Challenger expired, handing the lead to Vance & Hines/Mission/ Harley-Davidson's James Rispoli. It was Rispoli's second victory of the season and his first since the very first race of the year back in March at Daytona International Speedway. Ribelle RS to second place, giv - ing the company its first podium finish and the first for an electric bike in the class. After the red flags, race two was a three-lap dash and again O'Hara triumphed but by a larger margin of 1.7 seconds over Mc - Williams, with DiBrino again third. Roland Sands Design/Indian Motorcycle veteran Larry Pegram came home fourth ahead of Mesa in fifth. The field for the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship was so massive at COTA the field needed to be split into an A and B class, the final of which was won by Lucas Geboo (Warrior Built Harley-Davidson) ahead of Michael Smith (Quaid Harley- Davidson) and Aaron Guardado (SMCO Harley-Davidson). O'Hara takes the 2023 Mission Super Hooligan National Cham- pionship with 156 points from McWilliams at 126 and DiBrino is third at 122. MISSION KING OF THE BAGGERS The Mission King Of The Baggers title will go down to the wire at New Jersey in two weeks' time after two wild points-paying races at COTA. In the three-lap Challenge Race, Bobby Fong (Sac Mile/SDI Racing/Roland Sands Indian) collected the $5000 paycheck after riding his bucking Indian to a 0.052-second win over Kyle Wyman (H-D Screamin' Eagle) and James Rispoli (Vance & Xavi Fores and his perennial shadow, Tyler Scott, shared the wins in Supersport.
