Big Bike Weekend Concludes 2023

he annual Mammoth Mo-
tocross wrapped up with
the "Big Bike Weekend," August
31-September 3. Mini Week
took place August 29-30, but the
full-sized machines closed out
nearly two weeks of activities.
Big winners on the big bikes
included Lux Turner in 250cc Pro,
Robbie Wageman in 450cc Pro,
and Justin Hoeft in Open Pro
Sport.
Turner kicked things off
in the Pro classes with the
opening-moto win in the 250s.
The GasGas-mounted rider held
fourth during the opening laps
but managed to make his way to
the lead with two laps to go.
Luke Kalaitzian led the first
eight of the 10-lap moto before
Turner got around him. Kalaitzian
held on for second with Noah
Viney placing a strong third.
Parker Ross rebounded in
the second 250cc Pro moto. He
started fourth, worked his way
up and battled Turner for the
lead by the halfway point. The
two swapped positions with
Ross getting the upper hand.
Turner's 1-2 gave him the overall
ahead of Ross's 7-1 and Slade
Varola's 4-4.
Honda rider Noah Viney was
fourth and Yamaha rider Brad
West fifth.
The 450cc Pro race featured
a supercross format with heat
races, semis, and a final main
event. Yamaha-mounted Rob
-
bie Wageman started near the
front of the pack in the main and
took over the lead by lap two.
He never looked back from that
point on and won the race by 13
seconds over Honda rider Trevor
Stewart.

Lux Turner won the
250cc Pro division at
the Mammoth Mountain
Motocross.
