"I felt like I could do it today,"
Shimoda said. "Two starts
helped me a lot. I'm just happy
to have some kind of results on
the table, and really happy for
them [Kawasaki]. Personal goal
was to simply have a good time
just in general but 1-1 is some

Haiden Deegan came away
with second overall. The 250
rookie has been hot and cold re

cently in terms of results but he
turned up the heat at Ironman.

He overtook the lead by the half-
way point, set the fastest time
of the race, and ran off with the
moto victory, his second of the
year. Race two was more of the
same as Shimoda stalked and
passed his Kawasaki teammate,
Ryder Difrancesco, before going
on to another moto win. His 1-1
performance earned him the
overall win along with Kawa
-
saki's first overall of the year.
Shimoda also locked down third

With the title on the line in
moto one, all eyes were on the
favorites, Hunter Lawrence
and Justin Cooper. Both riders
suffered their difficulties off the
start with Cooper hitting the
deck and Lawrence cruising to a
safe fifth, clinching the title one
moto early.
Their struggles door opened
for someone else to steal the
show, Jo Shimoda. The Monster
Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki
rider put in an impressive come-
