taking the title should he leave
Pittsburgh with 100 points in
his pocket, but it didn't work out
that way.

ond places, the first behind Ste-
fano Mesa (Tytlers Cycle Racing
Kawasaki)
and the second behind
Tyler Scott (Vision Wheel M4 Ec-
number-one Yamaha rider was
never
headed, gradually pulling
clear to a 1.8-second win over
Scholtz and Herrin, with Richie
Escalante (Vision Wheel M4
Ecstar Suzuki) getting the better
of Jacobsen for fifth.
Gagne's win tally after his
PittRace triumphs put him at 38
for his career, putting him fourth
on the all-time winner's list
behind Mat Mladin, Josh Hayes
and Cameron Beaubier, and his
third straight title put him in the
company of Reg Pridmore, Fred
Merkel, Doug Chandler, Mat Mla

Beaubier's crash, Gagne had

with the New Yorker
getting to within 0.264 of Gagne
at the flag. Herrin had also
made haste and moved into
third place, one second up on
Scholtz, with JD Beach in his

Petersen on the sec-
ond Fresh N Lean Progressive
Yamaha,
taking a popular fifth
place, just 3.8 seconds behind
Gagne.
