Could Quartararo Head to Honda?
F
abio Quartararo might be on
Honda's picking list for 2025,
should the Frenchman finally
declare Yamaha's uncompetitive
package can no longer be toler-
ated.
Quartararo has repeatedly
declared the Yamaha MotoGP
machine is not up to scratch
against the onslaught of Euro
-
pean manufacturers Ducati, KTM
and Aprilia, and has pinpointed
next month's Misano test—the
scene where Yamaha will trial
their 2024 plans, including a re
-
vised engine designed by former
Ferrari Formula One engine guru
Luca Marmorini—as key to dis-
covering where his future lies.
Speaking to Italian publication
GPOne, Yamaha boss Lin Jarvis
said he's aware an approach
could be made by Honda for the
2025 season.
"I am aware, and one of the
risks comes from Honda, be
-
cause Honda will want a top
rider, and Fabio is one," Jarvis
said. "To keep him, we will have
to have a competitive bike. We
really must demonstrate with the
facts that we are fully focused."
Quartararo is contracted to
again ride for Yamaha, this time
alongside new teammate Alex
Rins who will replace Franco
Morbidelli.
"The rider market next year
will show some interesting
movements," Jarvis said. "Will
Marc Marquez stay or retire,
continue with Honda, or another
manufacturer? What I know is
that we must change our devel
-
opment system. We are open;
maybe we will have a V4 in the
future. There is still potential in
our package."
