moto, my bike was handling
really well, and I was happy with
it even though we didn't get the
end result that we'd like," Sexton
said. "Besides that [crash], I feel
like I rode good and had a good
battle with Jett, so that's prog
-
ress."
A bad start
in the second
moto erased any thoughts
anyone had about Ferrandis
possibly ending Lawrence's win
streak.
"My holeshot device broke
like two feet after the gate,
The Yamaha rider, who said
the team made significant set-
up improvements to his bike
during the two-week break,
made it close racing at the end,
finishing a second and a half
behind Lawrence.
"Dylan started doing some
really good laps, and I started
racing against lappers," Law-
rence said. "Those last few laps,
I
could see that blue bike getting
closer and closer. I just thought,
'If I lose this because of a lap-
per, I'll be so pissed.' Thankfully
I
still got it across the finish line
[first]."
Up until falling, Sexton looked
his best all year. "In the first
that other rut—Chase obviously
was coming in hot, and that was
his main line, I'm pretty sure. I
decided to switch it up. I'm like,
'Mate, that line looks better.' So I
just tried to switch it up. I didn't
know he was there. It wasn't
really anyone's fault; just kind of
a bummer situation. Thankfully
we both stayed up."
Not long afterward, Sexton
went down alone and eventually
finished third.
And then Ferrandis started
to make a charge on Lawrence,
who was struggling with lapped
traffic and was beginning to get
nervous about the rapidly clos

ing Ferrandis.
