And that he did. The factory
Indian ace was untouchable
pretty much all day long—a trend
that continued as the bikes
jumped off the starting line for
the main event right through the
waving checkered flag. Mees
was seriously hooked up on a
slick track, and there's little else
to report on that front.
In light of Mees' form, Daniels
simply needed to do anything
and everything necessary to fin
-
ish second in order to minimize
the degree to which Mees' pad-
ded his lead ahead of the Castle
Rock TT.
And that he did—although it
didn't play out quite as simply.
Daniels found himself caught up
in an early scrap for second that
included Estenson Racing Ya
-
maha teammate JD Beach, Rick
Ware Racing's Briar Bauman and
Mission Roof Systems' Brandon
Robinson.
At one point, Daniels seemed
destined to get dropped to fifth
but instead countered by split
-
ting Beach and Bauman to wrest
away control of second.
Once in the target position, he
never relinquished it, although
Beach—somewhat surprisingly—
pushed and pressured his team
-
mate to the flag. While Beach
didn't risk any questionable ma-
neuvers that might have jeopar-
dized Yamaha's championship
hopes, his persistence made it
clear that no team orders were
in effect, also hinting that none
would be in effect in Castle
Rock where Daniels will hope to
make a big push to improve his
title outlook.
Behind, a nine-rider dogfight
took shape for fourth where, in
the end, Rackley Racing's Davis
Fisher and Martin Trucking/
Fredericktown Yamaha's Cam-
eron Smith claimed the final two
positions in the top five.

the groove coming out of four, and
that's when it clicked. I picked off one
rider after another. I had an awesome
battle with Travis Petton and Dalton
Gauthier—that was a lot of fun."

6TH SUPERTWINS
Brandon Robinson looked like a
potential spoiler early, pressuring for
second position before finding his
level in sixth after the track conditions
drifted away from his liking. "The day
was a little up and down," he said.
"Nothing crazy. We were just sitting
in the fourth-to-sixth-place positions
all day. That's where we started, and
that's where we ended. I got a decent
start and felt really good in the first
five laps when there was still some
moisture up top, but it went away fast.
That was pretty much all she wrote
for me right there."
MYOWNRACE
(Left) Mees leads the way in the
SuperTwins final. The defending
champ won that one, too. (Below)
Daniels did the next-best thing by
finishing second and keeping close
to Mees in the championship.
