The Grand Prix paddock heard
the Colombian national an-
them for the first time as David
Alonso (Gaviota
GasGas Aspar
Team) not only took his first
Grand Prix victory but the first
for his nation. The rookie put in
a stellar last-lap performance
after climbing up from last on
the grid to snatch victory ahead
of the Moto3 big-hitters in what
was eventually a gigantic 17-
bike battle for the lead.
Ayumu Sasaki took second,
while Daniel Holgado strength

The British
Moto2 Grand

Californian Joe Roberts on the
Italtrans Kalex as he took fourth
from Manuel Gonzalez. Barry
Baltus finished sixth while Sam
Lowes completed his final ca

Ai Ogura

Canet.
Canet began to pull an advan-

one
second to the good, Lopez,
Acosta and Aldeguer in pursuit.
One lap later, Lopez hit the
deck and Aldeguer lit the after

burners, reeling in Canet and
pouncing
for the lead with eight
laps to go. Canet tried to stay
with him but then was forced to
drop a position to Acosta after
overtaking under yellow flags.
From there, the race was all
Fermin Aldeguer's. The teenager
came home 2.5 seconds up
on Canet, who, in turn, was 1.3
