A
prilia is a winner again
in MotoGP after Aleix
Espargaro (Aprilia Rac-
ing Team) threw everything but
the kitchen sink at long-time
race leader Francesco Bagnaia
(Ducati Lenovo Team), taking the
lead halfway around the final lap
and hanging on by the skin of his
teeth for a second career P1.
Moto2 saw the re-ascendence
of teenage hotshot Fermin
Aldeguer ahead of Aron Canet
and we heard the Colombian
national anthem for the first time
in Grand Prix history as David
Alonso prevailed in a 17—yes,
17!—bike battle for the Moto3
win over Ayumu Sasaki and Dan
-
iel Holgado.
Finally, Randy Krummenacher
took the first MotoE win with
Mattia Casadei taking the race
two gold.
MotoGP
Qualifying and
Sprint Race
The Q1 and Q2 qualifying ses-
sions had been marred by torren-
tial rain as the British summer
did its best to slow the fastest
riders down, with Marco Bez
-
zecchi (Mooney VR46 Ducati)
overcoming his third fall of the
weekend to take pole ahead of
Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM) and
Alex Marquez (Gresini Ducati).
World Champion Bagnaia lined
up fourth for the Sprint.
In much better conditions, the
10-lap Sprint Race got under
-
way with Bezzecchi taking the
initial lead from Miller, who had
stormed past by the third corner.
